Feeling frustrated or angry because no one listens to or understands you?

Being misunderstood or ignored is frustrating and can lead to anger, disappointment, tension, and hard feelings. When do we really learn to communicate? (Why is that not a class in school?) Clear communication can repair relationships, prepare you for the future, and help you feel heard and included. Being able to communicate with those who have different backgrounds or opinions than we do can also be challenging.

In counseling, we can work on:

  • Perspective Taking

  • Developing Empathy

  • Passive aggression

  • Stereotyping/Generalization

  • Listening Skills

I look forward to introducing skills such as “i” statements and active listening skills in a way that is applicable to your life. Our global world needs strong communicators in every occupation but, we also want to be good communicators for our friends, family, and even future romantic partners. We can also work on nonverbal communication as well. Nonverbal communication can give us away if we are not able to understand what we are telegraphing to others.
